Ingham Co. Prosecutor candidate Monica Stephens

INGHAM CO., Mich (WLNS) – Monica Stephens is a Republican who has been campaigning for the position of Ingham County Prosecutor for months.

She is currently an assistant attorney general for the state.

She has been a lawyer for six years and has tried hundreds of cases.

Stephens has never held a political office before but feels she is the best person for the job because she says of her ties to the community and Ingham County.

“In addition to my being a part of the County, also my prosecutorial experience. I’ve actually been an assistant prosecutor before, so I know how to do a job of a prosecutor,” said Stephens. “I think that’s very crucial for the next person to take this position. So I believe my experience in being an assistant prosecutor in Jackson County I can bring that here to Ingham County. Also what would make me best is, a new face, a fresh perspective. Someone who is from the outside that has the experience but doesn’t have necessarily the ties to those who would be in her office so I can remain objective when doing the job
