LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – “For Democrats it’s going to be an exciting time…everyone’s going to unify, the party’s going to come together behind Hillary Clinton as our presidential candidate,” Democratic State Representative Andy Schor said.
“I expect some fairly powerful speeches starting with Bernie Sanders on Monday night,” Political Analyst Bernie Porn stated.
After an exciting Republican Convention last week, it’s safe to say all political eyes will be on Philadelphia this week to see what the Democrats bring to the table.
“We’re going to see substance out of the Democrats, we’re going to see Secretary Clinton who’s got all kinds of experience in the U.S. Senate as Secretary of State, when she was first lady…she’s got experiencing in governing and can actually come through on that,” Schor said.
But while State Rep. Andy Schor has high hopes, political analyst Bernie Porn says he’s curious to see how the DNC will address concerns about Clinton not being trustworthy in the wake of her classified email scandal and handling of Benghazi.
“I think they’re going to focus an awful lot on her personal story and they’re going to try to the best of their abilities to refute that,” Porn stated.
Porn also says it’s essential that Clinton’s Vice Presidential pick, Tim Kaine, step up and get Bernie Sanders supporters behind him.
“I think Tim Kaine needs to convince folks at the convention and nationally that he is as progressive as Hillary Clinton claims, but a lot of the Bernie Sanders supporters doubt,” Porn stated.
But Schor says he has faith that Clinton will deliver.
“She is the best person to lead the country, she’s got the experience, she’s got the ideas, she’s got the unity of the party behind her…that’s what’s going to be showcased and it’s going to be about her.”
