Valentine’s buzzer beater for the win

(WLNS) – The basketball world is still in awe of Denzel Valentine’s heroics in last night’s NBA summer league final.

Now, of course, this game really doesn’t mean a lot in the grand scheme of things but let’s just say if the NBA didn’t notice the former Spartan already, he put the league on alert.

Chicago’s turn, 3.6 seconds left and off the inbound, the ball lands in Valentine’s hands and with a defender flying towards him he tosses up a prayer and sinks it with .2 seconds left! Let’s play overtime!

Under 10 seconds in OT, game tied at 82. Denzel looking for his shot, he ends up at the elbow, gets the defender to commit, and Denzel, makes this game Done-zel. Swish goes the net as time expires! Hugs all around, Carlton Valentine can’t believe it! The Bulls win 84-82 in OT to clinch the summer league title, Denzel Valentine after the game “I mean I was struggling the whole game and it was tough throughout the whole game so I figured I had to make a statement somehow,” said Valentine. “So when he hit that shot I went over to Coach Charlie and I said give me the ball, he went to me, I made the shot but credit to Jerian, Bobby, everybody, Spence, Chris, everybody was playing hard all game, holding it down,and then we just got the win.”
