WYOMING, Mich. (AP) – A man who authorities say started a fire that gutted a western Michigan fireworks store has been charged with arson.
Our media partners at MLive report 34-year-old Casey George Marvin was arrested following Tuesday’s blaze at GS Fireworks in Wyoming, near Grand Rapids. Other charges include carjacking and home invasion.
He asked a judge Friday to lower his $1 million bond, saying “this is way off for me.” The judge refused.
A witness told police he saw Marvin leave the fireworks store and send a lit firework inside. They say he set fire to a bag of stuffed animals at a nearby apartment and stole an SUV.
Investigators say he then broke into a home, showered and stole another car. He was caught driving the wrong way down a street.
