(WLNS) – We continue our coverage of the deadly shootings in Dallas as the entire nation is still trying to understand how someone could carry out tragic attacks against several police officers.

The week started with two controversial shootings, one in Louisiana and the other in Minnesota.

In both incidents two African-American men were fatally shot at the hands of a police officer.

Then last night, during a Dallas protest in response to those two shootings, at least one gunman carried out an attack against police officers.

Five officers died and seven other people were injured.

6 News spoke to several local police officers, and each and every one, has a strong and emotional message to share with the public.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
