Possible “wrong way driver” shuts down highway after accident

A possible wrong way driver caused an accident along Interstate 69.

Sheriff’s deputies say a driver who may have going the wrong way on Interstate 69 was involved in an accident that shut down the southbound lane for hours this morning.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Department tells 6 News that dispatchers got several calls about a car going the wrong way down the highway just before the accident.

It happened near Ainger Road at around 6 a.m.

The accident involved two cars and several people were taken to the hospital.

Deputies were forced to shut the highway down for about 5 hours while accident investigators poured over the evidence.

The road re-opened just before 11 a.m.
