Burger King takes swing at snack food combo

(WLNS) – Here’s a little something that will put your taste buds to the test.

Burger King is hoping to boost sales with a new, colorful food hybrid.

The fast-food chain is launching Mac ‘n Cheetos, a blending of deep-fried macaroni and cheese with a coating of Cheetos.

The unique combination will only be around for eight weeks or until supplies run out.

Analysts say the new item mostly targets teens, a market demographic in which Burger King has struggled.

The idea of combining unique snacks is not unheard of in the fast-food industry.

In 2012 Taco Bell introduced a taco wrapped in a Doritos shell. That combo was called Doritos Locos Tacos and is credited with helping to turn around sales at the then-struggling chain. It was so popular it led to the development of similar combinations such as Cool Ranch, Nacho Cheese and Fiery Doritos.
