UPDATE: Fast-moving storms move out of mid-Michigan

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The string of thunderstorms that moved through mid-Michigan was moving so fast it outran the cold front behind it. That drained the storms of the extra boost of power that could have made them more severe. The team of StormTracker 6 meteorologists is tracking the rapidly-moving weather and will have updates online and on 6 News if needed.

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – After days of hot weather a cold front is moving closer but ahead of that front is a line of thunderstorms.

Those thunderstorms will move through mid-Michigan this afternoon.

According to StormTracker 6 meteorologist Jim Geyer small hail, gusty winds and brief, heavy downpours can be expected.

He expects the storms will have moved out of mid-Michigan before 5:00 p.m. and cooler temperatures will slide in behind the rain.
