Orange barrels pop up as road repairs heat up

(WLNS) – Summer officially starts tonight with more families hitting the roads for vacation.

But before you do you will notice orange barrels popping up and one road construction project in mid-Michigan is supposed to last all summer long.

In the city of Lansing Aurelius Road will be closed between Jolly and Luwanna Drive for milling and resurfacing.

This includes the busy Cavanaugh road intersection.

If your route takes you this way expect detours which are expected to last until next Monday.

In Okemos rain last week postponed the opening of the south-bound Okemos Road bridge. Now that the concrete has been poured the bridge has reopened.

In East Lansing the major street project on North Harrison Road between Saginaw Street and Lake Lansing Road will be completely closed for almost two months.

Traffic in both directions will be detoured eastward to Abbot Road.

Crews will maintain local traffic as much as possible but drivers should still try to find alternate routes.

The project along North Harrison isn’t supposed to wrap up until August 19th.

We’ll be here for you with the progress happening with all of the projects in mid-Michigan this road construction season.
