Ingham County trail system to get facelift

INGHAM CO., Mich (WLNS) – The trail system that connects East Lansing, Lansing and Meridian Township is set to get a facelift.

The Ingham County Board of Commissioners has agreed to spend up to $788,863 to repair and resurface more than 13.35 miles of trails.

In some parts of the trail the asphalt surface will be recoated. 41 segments of trail have been identified as needing some asphalt repair. 39 of those will be addressed in this effort.

“These repairs will increase the life of existing trails and add value to the whole system,” said Ingham County Board of Commissioners Chairperson Kara Hope.

The funding also allows for improvements to make the trail more accessible and ADA-compliant.

Voters approved the trail and park millage in November 2014 that generates about $3.4 million annually.
