Event aims to keep teens off prescription drugs

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Department of Public Health says many teens start experimenting with substance abuse by turning to prescription drugs especially opioid painkillers.

An event hopes to keep those drugs out of the wrong hands.

The Sparrow Clinton Memorial Pharmacy in St. Johns will hold a community drug take back event Friday.

It will accept old unwanted medication from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. except for needles, inhalers, aerosols or patches.

Similar services are provided year-round by law enforcement agencies.
