HOWELL, Mich. (WLNS) – The question of transgender students using bathrooms in schools may eventually be decided on the state or national level but for now schools have to come up with their own policies and one local district is trying to deal with the controversy.
A Howell Board of Education meeting got heated on Monday with parents, educators and activists speaking out.
The district began looking at the issue after a student told his parents that a girl was using the boys’ restroom.
According to our media partners at WHMI the pastor of a local faith based school told the board that parents have already approached him saying they will pull their children out of the district if a transgender bathroom policy is adopted.
The superintendent is considering all of the comments.
