FENTON, Mich. (WLNS) – A woman has been sentenced in the shooting death of a Fenton man and her prison term is no surprise.
A life sentence was mandatory after Mary Lou Bigford was convicted of first degree murder.
There is no chance for her to get out on parole.
Our media partners at WHMI report Bigford was also sentenced to up to seven additional years in prison for weapons charges.
Police say she shot 39-year-old Lawrence Howard Jr. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Mt. Pleasant.
Howard was the father of Bigford’s granddaughter and the child’s mother had accused him of sexually abusing the girl even though police found no evidence of that.
