UPDATE: BWL’s web, phone systems go dark in power outage

UPDATE (3:06pm) – The BWL says its phone system is working again.
UPDATE (1:19pm) – The BWL website appears to be accessible and working, but the outage map on the site still shows zero outages and no advisories.

ORIGINAL STORY (12:43pm) – Lansing Board of Water and Light did major revamps to their communication systems after a ice storm crippled the utility at the end of 2013. They added an outage map to their website, a phone app, and upgraded their phone systems.
But none of them seem to be working after a power outage struck the greater Lansing area on Friday afternoon.
6 News is unable to access the website, the app shows no power outages (below), and BWL customers are heading to the utility’s Facebook page with similar complaints.

“My power went out around noon today, and your phone line is dead and your website won’t load,” said Evan Bruin on the BWL Facebook page. “I’m trying to report the outage but am becoming increasingly frustrated. I’m at 2017 Forest Ave, and my neighbors have also lost power. Please let me know if this is something you are aware of and are working on.”
 “Traffic light at Mount Hope and Pleasant Grove is out, as is the power for most of colonial village,” said Sarhra Mossoglia on the Facebook page. “Tried reporting via text and get an error message. Tried calling to report, tried using the website…neither work.”

“Please tell us what the problem is with this major outage and when you anticipate power being restored,” posted Wendy Menosky. “Your website isn’t even showing an outage in our area and your phone system disconnected me.”
