OKEMOS, Mich. (WLNS) – “It’s so exciting and great because I saw his little face and it was, it was just made me smile,” 17 year old Storm Miller said.
For Miller, taking 9-week old puppy “Murphy” home is something he’s been looking forward to.
“Ever since I heard or made the decision I want a puppy they were like we can do this for you,” Miller mentioned.
He’s talking about “Make a Wish” Michigan. This organization decided to grant Storm his wish of owning an English Bulldog puppy.
“It’s just so exciting to see what it can do for a child and their family especially when they’re going through so many difficult things,” Communications/PR Manager for “Make a Wish” Michigan, Christy Hammond stated.
17 year old Storm was diagnosed with a form of cancer called “Synovial Cell Sarcoma” in January of this year.
“It is really difficult time and this has been like a shining moment during that…something you can look forward to,” Storm’s mother Kathleen Miller said.
To top it all off, Banfield Pet Hospital is covering the first year of Murphy’s healthcare.
“We are going to offer Murphy a one year wellness plan which includes all his vaccines, his de-wormings, intestinal parasite screenings, heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention just to increase his longevity, to provide good all around wellness care to extend his quality of life,” Associate Veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital, Dr. Amy Williamson said.
Taking little Murphy home is more than just owning a puppy for Miller, it’s creating friendship.
“A trip is really nice for eaking out the memories but a dog is like years and years and the companionship that they offer” said Storm Miller.
“We felt very honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this puppy into our lives,” Kathleen Miller stated.
