MERIDIAN TWP., MI (WLNS) – Medical marijuana in mid-Michigan has been a controversial topic for years.
On Tuesday the Meridian Township board looked to clear up some of the questions as the board put its updated medical marijuana ordinance up for a vote.
In an unexpected turn of events the board shot down the ordinance and then shot down a motion to reconsider the vote.
The new ordinance would have covered a number of measures, including how the use of medical marijuana is defined and where grow and transfer facilities can operate in relation to public schools.
A township official has told 6 News that it is possible the ordinance will come back at the board’s next meeting.
