Consumers Energy lends grant to support Michigan trout

They supply thousands of people with electricity and now a $165,000 grant from Consumers Energy will be put to good use to help Michigan’s trout population.

The utility has teamed up with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The partnership plans to use that money to spruce up five miles of the Big Creek River in the northern-lower peninsula and make it more trout friendly.

Consumers spent more than a quarter million dollars last year on researching and protecting Michigan’s fish.
