Super heroes meet kids at Sparrow

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a super-hero!

And those super heroes invaded the children’s playroom Thursday at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital.

They’re actually students from Saginaw Valley State University on hand to give out special knit hats to kids with cancer.

It’s part of “National Super Hero Day” for the clothing company called “Love Your Melon*.

Volunteers team-up with hospitals across the country to support and honor the “real” heros in hospitals: the brave patients, the incredible hospital staff and devoted family members.

“I never though that I would be a part of something so big and so life changing-like,” said Kennedy Shea from “Love Your Melon”. “And it’s honestly like we come dressed as superheroes but realistically these children going through these illnesses are the true superheroes.”

“Love Your Melon” hopes to donate over 12,000 hats around the country in one day.
