LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Legislation known as revenge porn is now Michigan law.

That means that a person can be punished for posting explicit pictures or video of someone online without that person’s consent.

It tends to happen after a break-up as a way to shame or humiliate an ex.

Someone found guilty of revenge porn could face prison time and a $1,000 fine.

Similar legislation stalled in the state house two years ago.
