Former gymnastics coach gets prison for sex crimes

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – A former Delhi Township gymnastics instructor has been sentenced to 3-15 years in prison for his conviction on two counts of criminal sexual conduct, 3rd degree.

In July 2014 Mikael Frutin was accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of his students, who was 13-15 years old.

In September 2015 Frutin waived his preliminary exam. He was charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct, 3rd degree. At the same time six additional charges of criminal sexual conduct, 1st degree were dismissed.

Last month Frutin took a plea deal, which included charges for two counts of criminal sexual conduct, 3rd degree and the four remaining counts dropped.
