Ionia Co. Sheriff’s Office warning of door to door sales

IONIA COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a door to door scam.

One victim told officers on April 20 a blue minivan came to his home and a man tried to sell him some meat.

During the visit, the man asked to enter the home to use the bathroom. The victim allowed the man inside and officials say that’s when cash was stolen.

The Ionia Co. Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be cautious of this type of sales activity. Officials recommend that residents do not let door to door salesman inside their homes.

They also say these salesmen often times have not had a background check. Officials say some door to door activity is a chance to scam residents or to try and enter a home to steal valuables.
