Man charged with Lansing homicide

Accused in the homicide of Nathan Jackson in Lansing on April 13/14, 2016

A Lansing man faces two charges, one of them homicide, in connection with the death of a teenager after a fight on Wednesday night.

Robert Anthony Smith also faces one county of carrying a weapon with unlawful intent. That’s also a felony.

Police say Smith stabbed and killed 16-year-old Nathan Jackson along the 1800 block of Olds Avenue on Wednesday night. Jackson later died.

A judge set the bond for Smith, who is 21, at $1 million.

He’ll be in court in a couple of weeks for a conference. His preliminary hearing – at which prosecutors will lay out some of the arguments against Smith – is scheduled for May 5th.
