UPDATE: Lansing Police make arrest in overnight homicide

UPDATE 8:25 a.m. – 6 News has learned that the victim of the homicide overnight is a 16-year-old boy. Lansing Police also say they are confident they have found a suspect. As 6 News first reported last night it all happened just before 10:00 p.m. last night on the 1800 block of Olds Avenue.

A police spokesman tells 6 News that the 16-year-old got into an argument with a 21-year-old man. The argument escalated and turned physical.

The teen was taken to a local hospital where he died. Not long after police found the suspect several miles away from the scene of the fight and took him into custody.

Officials say the suspect and the victim knew each other.

6 News will continue to follow this story and will have updates online and on 6 News.

UPDATE 5:00 a.m. – Lansing police officials will only confirm that someone was killed. They can’t say how, if there are suspects or who is the victim.

Police say it wasn’t random and there’s no danger to the general public.

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – 6 News is following breaking news out of Lansing, where police have responded to a home in the 1800 block of Olds Avenue, just south of I-496 near the Grand River.

There’s a large police presence out on the scene with law enforcement from multiple agencies.
