LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Many students rely on the free meals during the school day to make it through the week but what happens to those children when school is out of session for a long stretch of time?

An event today will help make sure they aren’t forgotten.

On Wednesday the Lansing City Human Relations and Community Service Department will host Feed Lansing’s Children Family Food Box.

Organizers plan to raise awareness of the problem of hunger in local homes as well as the department’s efforts to provide 300 boxes for food assistance during spring break.

Those boxes will be given out at the event which is taking place at the Meijer on Lake Lansing Road from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
