It was found in the banks of the Red Cedar.
Now there’s a reward for information that leads to the arrest of whoever swiped Sparty’s cart.
Someone made off with the MSU mascot’s ride from the MSU Union on Sunday – and some time between 9 and 11pm that night, officials say they dumped it into the Red Cedar River near the MSU Computer Center.
Crews fished it from the water on Tuesday, but police still want to know who did it.
So the MSU Alumni Association is offering $1,000 to the student-run organization of the donor’s choice if they have information that helps crack the case. They also say Sparty will present the check himself.
The tipster will also receive two tickets to any home football game during the 2016 season.
Officials say the person can also remain anonymous.
“The Spartans Will Global Day of Service is just around the corner,” said Clint Stevens, director of the Sparty Mascot Program, in a press release. “We hope to encourage a witness to come forward in the spirit of service to our student body.”
Scott Westerman, who runs the Alumni Association, says the custom cart suffered serious damage and will need to be replaced.
