Michigan Congressman John Moolenaar (R)

An SUV carrying a Michigan congressman and a university president has crashed with a pickup truck in Saginaw County.

They received medical attention Wednesday but appeared to be unhurt. The Saginaw News says Republican U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar of Midland was riding in a Ford Edge driven by Don Bachand, president of Saginaw Valley State University.

Moolenaar also represents parts of Clinton and Shiawassee Counties.

The crash occurred around noon in Carrollton Township. Moolenaar and Bachand were traveling to a lunch meeting.

Moolenaar’s chief of staff, Ryan Tarrant, says he’s thankful his boss was wearing a seat belt.
