Hundreds of kids dash across Capitol lawn at annual Easter egg hunt

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The sun was out today.

“It’s a little brisk but it feels great,” Lansing resident Margaret Barba said.

And so was the Easter bunny.

“You gotta go get all the eggs you can, ok?”

As hundreds of children waited their turn to dash across the capitol lawn for eggs.

“We came out today because we knew that the Easter egg hunt was out at the Capitol,” Barba said. “We live in Lansing. We love Lansing. We love Sparty, right?”

“Three, two, one…go go go!”

The annual tradition brings out kids of all ages to grab as many eggs as they can…including Gabrielle Brown’s little cousin Tyler. She’s excited “to help get him eggs and this is, I think it’s his first time doing it isn’t it?” Brown said.

Holly Johnson is back at it again this year with her family.

“The kids really love it,” Johnson said. They enjoy it, and we always have a great time. We came here last year too.”

“Run, here you go,” Brown said.

And in just a few minutes…

“c’mon, c’mon,” Brown said. “You gotta run real fast!”

All the eggs have been collected.

“Show all the eggs you got! …one”

Even Tyler’s cousin RJ was impressed.

“Ty, you got more than anybody. Thanks RJ. You’re welcome. You did a good job.”

Safe to say most kids walked away with some candy and a sense of accomplishment.
