Man escapes from jail and faces additional charges

JACKSON, MI. (WLNS) – The man who was caught after escaping from jail this past weekend is now facing additional charges.

County officials say Charles Stewart II has been charged with escaping from the Chanter Road Jail and resisting a police officer.

Early Sunday morning, Stewart’s cell was found empty but a short time later he was found with serious injuries at a home in Jackson.

According to our media partners at the Jackson Citizen Patriot, Stewart had been awaiting trial on multiple firearm charges.
