LANSING, MI. (WLNS) – As the water crisis in Flint continues Michigan’s top universities want to make sure nothing like that ever happens again in our state.

Lawmakers and politicians will hear an academic point of view on the subject of water policy in Michigan at an event in the Lansing Center.

Faculty from MSU, University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Oakland University, Wayne State University and more will all take part in a conference addressing how Michigan should provide its people with water.

Speakers at the event will explain issues like water supply engineering, funding needs, public trust, regulations and impacts on the environment and health of citizens.

They say the goal is to get information backed up by research into the hands of legislators, state employees and other people with the power to use that information.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
