WASHINGTON, D.C. (WLNS) – Democratic U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow responded to the attacks in Brussels Tuesday, saying “America stands with the people of Belgium follow this morning’s horrific terror attacks in Brussels.”
She goes on to say, “The United States and our allies will not stop until those responsible are brought to justice.”
The Brussels attacks left more than 30 people dead after two explosions tore through Brussels Airport Tuesday. It happened during the morning rush hour when hundreds of passengers were trying to check in.
Zach Mouzoun, who arrived on a flight from Geneva about 10 minutes before the first blast, told France’s BFM television that the second louder explosion brought down ceilings and ruptured pipes, mixing water with blood from victims.
“It was atrocious. The ceilings collapsed,” he said. “There was blood everywhere, injured people, bags everywhere.”
“We were walking in the debris. It was a war scene.”
Since the attacks, the Islamic State Group has claimed responsibility. The group says its extremists opened fire in the airport and “several of them” detonated suicide belts.
