Detroit police investigating fatal shooting of Uber driver

DETROIT (AP) – Officials in Detroit are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who drove for Uber.

Police looking into a reported traffic accident found the 50-year-old man inside a SUV early Saturday morning on the city’s west side.

Hospital officials determined that Modou Diagne had been shot. He later died.

Sgt. Michael Woody says investigators are working with the transportation service company to determine if the man was “on duty and ordered to a specific address or was he off the clock.”

Woody says it’s unknown if anyone was in the SUV.

Uber says in a statement that the company has been in contact with police to offer assistance in the case.
