Michigan rural areas lists as healthy places to live

(WLNS) – The annual health rankings for every county in the nation are in and among Michigan’s 83 counties, some of the healthiest are right here in mid-Michigan.

As usual more rural counties tended to be healthier than urban ones.

Livingston County placed 3rd overall and Clinton County came in 4th.

The rankings are published by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin.

Researchers look at things like quality of life, unhealthy behaviors and the availability of health care providers in the community.

In addition to placing 3rd in the state, Livingston County came first in quality of life, which covers things like sick days and mental health.

Ionia County took the 11th spot, Ingham was 54th and Jackson came in 57th on the list.
