Police arrest passed out, armed man in drive thru

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – A 22-year-old man is facing charges after officers found him unresponsive inside a car at a restaurant’s drive thru.

It happened around 12:48 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of E. Edgewood.

Witnesses told police a man armed with a gun appeared to be passed out in a car that was stopped in the drive thru at a restaurant.

When officers arrived on scene they found Benito Lorenze Valles Jr. unresponsive. About an hour later Valles woke up and got out of the car. He was arrested and taken to the Lansing Detention facility.

Valles is charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors. Three charges are related to the handgun officers found – carrying a concealed firearm, dangerous weapon/brass knuckles and firearms – possession under the influence. Valles is also charged with operating while intoxicated.

His bond is set at $10,000. Valles’s pre-exam conference is scheduled for later in March and his preliminary hearing will be in April.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
