LCC Men’s basketball players, coach rake in awards

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The Lansing Community College men’s basketball team gets set to begin the NJCAA DII tournament next week and they’ll start play with a load of awards.

Five players from the Stars and Head Coach Mike Ingram have been honored by the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.

  • Javon Haines – MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year, MCCAA Western Conference 1st Team, NJCAA Region XII 1st Team, All MCCAA Team, MCCAA Western Conference All Defensive Team, NJCAA District 9 Most Valuable Player.
  • Isaiah Green – MCCAA Western Conference 1st Team, NJCAA Region XII 1st Team, All MCCAA Team, MCCAA Western Conference All Freshman Team, MCCAA Western Conference All Defensive Team, MCCAA Western Conference Defensive Player of the Year, NJCAA District 9 All-Tournament Team.
  • Jimmy Kodet – MCCAA Western Conference 1st Team, NJCAA Region XII 1st Team, All MCCAA Team
  • Brian Morton – MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention
  • Curtis Davison – MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention
  • Coach Mike Ingram – MCCAA Western Conference Coach of the Year (19th time), NJCAA District 9 Coach of the Year, second consecutive year.

LCC’s record for the year is 28-4 and the explosive offense averages 95.5 points per game. The team is back in action next Tuesday against Dakota County Technical College in the first round of the NJCAA DII tourney in Dansville, Illinois.
