Gunshot victim recovering in Jackson

JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – A Jackson man is recovering today after being shot once in the back last night.

Police tell 6 News the 36-year-old man was shot near the intersection of Milwaukee and Wall Streets.

Officers were called to the area after people reported they heard shots fired.

While police were looking for evidence they heard the victim call for help.

He was found lying in a yard in the 100 block of Wall Street and was taken to Allegiance Hospital where he is in critical condition.

A search by police uncovered several more shell casings and witnesses who said a white Nissan was seen leaving the area.

Last Saturday there were reports of shots being fired at the same intersection.

No one was injured in that incident.

Early the next day there was another report of shots being fired on the 100 block of Robinson Street, striking a house.

There were no injuries reported.
