More jobs coming to Michigan after axed business tax

(WLNS) – Detroit’s high unemployment rate was brought up during the GOP debate on Thursday night, but the outlook may not be as bleak as it seemed.

A new report shows Michigan is number six in the nation for major new corporate facilities and expansions that create more jobs.

That’s according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which says bold reforms like the elimination of the Michigan business tax are bringing new development into the state.

It cited a business publication that counted more than 200 projects in Michigan last year that met criteria for job creation, capital investment or size increases for established businesses.

Many of these were car companies or automotive suppliers.
