FLINT, MI. (WLNS) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has asked for a federal assessment of chemical exposure or ACE as part of its investigation into rashes supposedly caused by Flint’s water.
The DHHS has been conducting home visits with experts for those afflicted with skin rashes.
Dr. Eden Wells, the state’s chief medical executive, says in a statement the four-member federal team’s work is “an important next step.” She says officials are hopeful the investigation will help address any concerns related to rashes or other skin issues.
An ACE team will arrive in Flint this week to help residents determine what is causing their rashes and what can be done about it.
