LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- If you do a fare share of traveling, the hassle of long lines at the airport is about to get a shorter.
TSA PreChecks are already available at Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport and now for the first time the airport is hosting an opportunity for you sign up.
Shoes, laptops, liquids and belts. You can now keep them with you when you walk through security at Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport.
“Makes it quick and easy you’re done in less than 5 minutes usually, said traveler Liz Andrews.”
That’s if you have TSA PreCheck.
And if you don’t, signing up is now easier than ever.
“There hasn’t been an application center in Lansing since the program started so passengers had to travel to Ann Arbor and further to enroll and now it’s in our backyard,” said Michael McCarthy with the Transportation Security Administration.
The new move is generating major interest among local jetsetters.
“We originally started as a three day program and expanded to two weeks just because there was such a strong demand for the TSA program,” said Nicole Noll-Williams with Capital Region International Airport.
“Officials with TSA tell me the checking process is both a win-win for passengers as well as security.”
“We know a lot more about this passenger we feel confident they don’t pose a risk to aviation security for passenger they now have an expedited screening experience,” said McCarthy.
And, it’s an experience Liz Andrews says she’s happy to see take off in town.
“I think it’s fantastic. It’s being offered all over the country and I’m really happy that Lansing has jumped in,” said Andrews.
Making traveling, more enjoyable one PreCheck at a time.
