Small businesses seek cyber-security strategies

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Cyber-security was on the minds of some local business owners who gathered for the Capitol Region Small Business Development Center seminar on cyber-security.

“It’s not just big businesses like Home Depot or Target that can be hit by this kind of thing,” said Tom Donaldson, Regional Director of the SBDC. “It can hit smaller businesses as well and it could potentially wipe out a small business. So we just want to get that awareness out so people are thinking about it and taking precautions.”

Experts say that small businesses are especially vulnerable to cyber attacks because business owners often don’t think they are at risk.
