MSU’s Mark Dantonio gets raise in revised contract

EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Michigan State Spartans football coach Mark Dantonio is getting a raise as a reward for a 36-5 record over the last three seasons. That record includes two Big Ten Championships.

Dantonio’s revised contract includes an increase to his base salary and contingent annual bonus. The coach will also get a bonus if continues as MSU’s head Spartan football coach until January 15, 2020.

The new contract includes a base salary of $2,264,480 as well as the following:

  • $1,000,000 supplemental compensation
  • $700,000 contingent annual bonus
  • $185,520 benefits
  • $100,000 Nike shoe/apparel agreement
  • $50,000 guaranteed performance incentives

All of these revisions lead to a $4.3 million annual compensation for Dantonio, up from the previous $3.67 million.
