GRAND LEDGE, MI (WLNS) – This week’s team is one that you’ll often see at high school sporting events, just not at their own competitions. The Grand Ledge Competitive Cheer team is having a banner season this year.
Sometimes, a great season involves everything falling right into place, and that’s just what has happened this year for Grand Ledge Competitive Cheer
“The girls have done a great job but this year has been an amazing season for them. They started off strong and they haven’t looked back,” said Coach Sue Horak, Grand Ledge Varsity Competitive Cheer.
“From where we were freshmen year to where we weren’t winning at all, we weren’t scoring as high as we probably could have it means a lot that we’re finally getting to it now,” said Amy Case, senior, Grand Ledge Cheer.
Grand Ledge cheer has never had a season like this. They clinched a CAAC title for the first time in program history and the comets, they’re confident heading into districts this weekend.
“When we came in there was a few of us that had the mentality for this team but not all of us but now the younger kids have come in and they’ve really wanted to fight for this team and know what it means to be a Grand Ledge high school cheerleader and to really strive for greatness,” said Dakota Hart, junior, Grand Ledge Cheer.
That greatness could be achieved at districts in Lake Orion this weekend, but the round is far from easy, only 4 of the 14 participating teams advance, but the Comets know that regardless of what happens, this team will forever be remembered.
“This has been the dream season for a coach, they are coachable, they are funny, they have a passion for the sport and I couldn’t be more proud of them, yeah, they’re just amazing,” said Coach Horak.
Congratulations to Grand Ledge Varsity Competitive Cheer, our 6 Sports Team of the Week.
