Governor Snyder to reveal budget proposal

LANSING, MI. (WLNS) – Governor Rick Snyder will address the media ahead of his $54.9 billion budget recommendation to lawmakers.

In addition to suggesting more funding for Flint, he’ll also propose to increase operations funding for Michigan’s 15 public universities by 4.3 percent.

That would bring university funding back to the same level it was at when Snyder took office in 2011.

That’s not the only change coming to Michigan schools.

State Superintendent Brian Whiston announced his new plan Tuesday which includes offering early childhood and post-secondary education to all Michigan students.

He says he is aiming to improve the education workforce, reduce the impact of poverty and create stronger ties between education and employers.

We are anticipating livestreaming Gov. Snyder’s budget presentation beginning at 11:00 a.m.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
