Lansing man convicted of 2015’s first murder

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – A 23-year-old Lansing man has been found guilty of murder in the shooting death of a young father last year.

A jury on Friday found Dashawn Carter guilty of shooting 25-year-old Eric Jackson in April 2015.

The shooting took place on the 3200 block of Mt. Vernon Apartments. Jackson had been visiting his two-week old son prior to the shooting.

At the time of the shooting Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings said he believed Jackson and Carter knew each other, but it’s not clear how.

Carter was convicted of First Degree Murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

His sentencing is set for March 2 in Ingham County Circuit Court.
