(WLNS) – Delta Township Fire Department used a model built by Lansing Community College Architectural Design students in their training simulation for first-shift fire personnel.
Delta Fire contacted LCC a month ago, asking for three models to be built for three separate training exercises.
Today those students joined the Fire Department as they started a fire in the corner of the first model with paper and scrap wood, to watch how it grows, and how to safely and quickly put it out.
Tim Baker with LCC public service careers told 6 News the experience is a great way for the Fire Department to learn the flow of fire and respond to it I a controlled environment.
“The whole concept is to make sure that their firefighters are gaining that knowledge, and, and, like I said that safe controlled environment, so they know what to expect if they ever do go into a house fire,” Baker said.
The training not only helped the Firefighters, but also showed students the importance of fire safety in homes and how to respond in the case of a fire.
