ANN ARBOR, Mich (WLNS) – It’s an excitement that spreads across town. The beer is flowing at The Arena Sports Bar in Ann Arbor.
“Michigan, Michigan State, it’s always gonna be a great game; Great rivalry,” MSU Alum Dominik Traudt said.
As students lined up for hours at the Crisler Center…
“I think we’re four, four-hundredth in line, so there’s like 600 students here right now, just waiting,” University of Michigan senior Jaclyn Waara said.
But it isn’t just maize and blue in the crowd as MSU fans aren’t far behind.
It’s a long standing rivalry, often dividing families.
“My parents went to State and my brother, sister and I, we go to Michigan and we’re ready to win,” Waara said.
And dividing friendships as well.
Whoever wins it’s gonna be a long day for the other person,” Michigan fan Michael Masserant said.
“So probably a long day for him,” MSU fan Kosai Zaya said in response.
And today, Spartan fans were confident from the start.
“They’re all gonna dominate and the Spartans are gonna prevail,” MSU fan Gene Longo said. “Go state!”
And even though the wolverines walked away with a loss, it’s a day full of energy on campus.
“Go blue,” Masserant said.
“Go green go white,” Zaya said.
