East Lansing City Council sets public hearing on new drone rules

EAST LANSING, MI. (WLNS) – It’s not a bird. It’s not a plane.

It’s a drone and residents of East Lansing are talking about new proposed rules for them and they’ll also discuss a new six story development planned for the city’s downtown.

The East Lansing Public Relations Committee met Tuesday night and set a public hearing two weeks from Friday to discuss the new drone rules.

They would add to recently enacted federal regulations by incorporating trespassing and privacy laws for drone operation and making them illegal in places like city parks.

The committee also set a public meeting for March 1st to discuss the six story development planned for the corner of Grand River and Spartan Avenues.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
