CMS and Consumers Energy president and CEO announces retirement

JACKSON, MI. (WLNS) – After serving six years as President and CEO of Consumers Energy, John Russell plans to retire from the utility, effective July 1, 2016.

Upon Russell’s departure, Senior VP of Energy Distribution Patricia Kessler Poppe will take on the role as the new president and CEO.

Russell is expected to join the CMS and Consumer’s Energy boards of directors as chairman in May.

Russell has been an employee with the energy company for 34 years with a successful record in orchestrating growth in the areas of finance, safety and operations.
