LANSING, MI. (WLNS) – Human trafficking is a growing problem around the country and Michigan is no exception.
The public is invited to a meeting Wednesday to discuss what can be done about it.
The Michigan Human Trafficking Commission is meeting at Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office on Ottawa Street today at 11:30 to discuss how to expand legal protections to victims of the crime as well as expand assistance and increase public awareness.
Mr. Schuette has stated human trafficking is the second largest criminal enterprise in the state, after drugs.
He says teaching the public what trafficking looks like is critical to fighting it.
