GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) – Officials say four firefighters were injured when a home’s ceiling collapsed during an early-morning fire in Grand Rapids.

William Smith, fire prevention inspector with the Grand Rapids Fire Department, says crews responded about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday to the fire.

Everyone inside the home got out safely after smoke alarms alerted residents to the fire.

Our media partners at MLive say one firefighter was knocked unconscious by debris and one had a leg injury. They were taken to a hospital where there were treated and released. The newspaper says the other two were treated at the scene.

Smith says temperatures in the single-digits made it more difficult to put out the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
