Governor Snyder calls on President Obama to declare emergency in Flint

LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Governor Rick Snyder is asking President Obama to declare a state of emergency in Genesee Co.

He’s also calling on the president to declare an expedited major disaster for Genesee County due to the ongoing crisis with Flint’s water.

“We are utilizing all state resources to ensure Flint residents have access to clean and safe drinking water and today I am asking President Obama to provide additional resources as our recovery efforts continue,” said Governor Rick Snyder.

Governor Snyder is requesting supplementary federal aid in the form of individual and public assistance.

The governor also requested support earlier this week from FEMA to help with a recovery plan.

He’s also activated the Michigan National Guard to distribute supplies at water resource sites in Flint.
